Moonwater is designed to need as little of your data as possible.
Location
- If you grant permission, Moonwater uses your device location once per launch to determine which tides to show.
- Your coordinate is sent to the Open-Meteo API to retrieve the tide forecast and to Apple's geocoding service to obtain a place name. It is not stored on any server we operate and is not used for tracking or advertising.
- The last viewed location is stored locally on your device (shared with the Home Screen widget). It never leaves your device except for the API request above.
- You can use the app without location access by searching for a place.
Search
Text you type in the search bar is sent to the Open-Meteo geocoding API to find matching places. It is not stored by us.
Analytics & tracking
Moonwater contains no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking SDKs.
Third-party services
Open-Meteo (tides, sea level, geocoding). Requests contain only the coordinate or search term needed to fulfill them.
