Privacy Policy

Short version: Tweetdex stores all your data exclusively on your own device. There is no account, no server, and none of your data is sent to us or to any third party. The one exception is resolving a place name from a photo's location data, which goes through Apple's own mapping services (see below).

Who is responsible?

What data does Tweetdex process?

Tweetdex doesn't require an account and doesn't collect personal data for ourselves. The app is fully offline-first:

Photos you add are stored in the app's local database, on your own device. They are never uploaded to a server.
Date and location from photos (EXIF data) are, if present, read automatically from a photo you select from your photo library. This data stays stored locally with that sighting.
Place name for a location is resolved via Apple's built-in geocoding service (CLGeocoder). This sends the coordinate from the photo to Apple to get a place name back — this runs through Apple's own infrastructure and falls under Apple's privacy policy, not Tweetdex's.

Access to your photo library

Tweetdex asks for permission to access your photo library so you can pick and (optionally) save a photo. The app only uses this access at the moment you select or save a photo yourself — it never looks at your photo library automatically or in the background.

What Tweetdex doesn't do

No account registration or sign-in
No servers or cloud storage of your data
No analytics, ads, or trackers
No sharing data with third parties
No location tracking — the app never requests your current location, only location data already present in a photo you chose

Retention and deletion

All data is kept for as long as you have the app installed on your device. If you delete the app, all locally stored sightings and photos are automatically and completely removed from your device. You can also edit or replace individual sightings at any time within the app.

Children

Because Tweetdex doesn't collect or transmit personal data, there are no specific risks for users of any age.

Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy changes, we'll publish the updated version on this page with a new date at the top of the document.
